PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Park Township Zoning Text Amendment Ordinance was adopted at a meeting of the Park Township Board held on January 9, 2020, amending the Park Township Zoning Ordinance. The amendment is to take effect on January 27, 2020, provided that this effective date shall be extended as necessary to comply with the requirements of Section 402 of the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act. A summary of the regulatory effect of the amendment is as follows.
The text amendment proposes to amend Section 38-33(e) – Expiration of permits by removing the percentage complete requirement for building permit renewal fees; amend Section 38-492 – Swimming pools by adding provisions to clarify that retaining walls for swimming pools in the rear yard of a waterfront lot shall not exceed 30 inches above grade; amend Section 38-575(a)(5) – Permitted signs in each zoning district (AG Agricultural and Permanent Open Space District) to allow temporary seasonal signs for businesses within the AG Zoning District, with size regulations; add Section 38-575(b)(b) – Permitted signs in each zoning district (R-1 Rural Estates Residence District) to allow the same signage as provided for within Section 38-575(a)(5), as amended; amend Section 38-575(c)(1) – Permitted signs in each zoning district (C District) to reduce the sign and dimensional provisions by fifty percent (50%) within C Districts; amend Section 38-367 – Development requirements for PUDs with residential uses to exclude any area of a development intended for the general circulation of vehicular traffic from the net buildable acreage; amend Section 38-368 – Dedicated open space requirements (PUDs) to exclude any area of a development intended for the general circulation of vehicular traffic from dedicated open space; amend Section 38-504 – Outdoor Ponds to remove the term “outdoor,” to replace the official review body for ponds, and to require a public hearing for a pond; amend Section 38-505 – Earth change regulations and permits to replace the official review body for ponds; amend Section 38-184(8) – Use regulations to reflect the updated reviewing body for ponds; amend Section 38-214(6) – Use regulations to reflect the updated reviewing body for ponds; and add Section 38-517 – Garage Sales to specify garage sales as a temporary accessory use for a period of not more than four (4) days, and to limit sign placement and setback of sales.
