Land Division

Splitting a parcel of land in Park Township is not difficult but it does take some paperwork to complete the process.  There are 2 different procedures for splitting land.

One is for land that we call “metes and bounds”, that is, land that is not in a recorded subdivision.

The other is for land that is in a recorded subdivision.

Contact the Assessor, Al Nykamp if you have questions at 616-738-4227

1.   Division of a parcel of land not in a recorded subdivision

Splitting a parcel of land not in a recorded subdivision requires the approval of the Township’s Building and Zoning Official and also the Township’s Assessor.  There is a Land Division Application form and a State of Michigan form (3278) that must be completed and filed with the Township Assessor.  Click here, fill out the application and return to the Assessor.

2.   Splitting a platted lot

Splitting of a platted lot in a recorded subdivision requires the approval of the Township Board.  There is a short form that must be filed with the Assessor’s office.  Click here, fill out the form and return it to the Assessor.
